- “13 reasons why” is a semi-new Netflix original that shows the aftermath of a high school student, Hannah Baker, killing herself and how her actions resulted in the effect of the whole town. The show is called “13 reasons why” because of thirteen tapes she left behind for everyone who had play a negative impact in her life to some form or degree in ruining her life. Season 2 of “13 reason why “picks up with the aftermath of Hannah’s death and the start of several characters’ journeys to recovery. Liberty High school prepares to go court, however someone wants to keep the truth surrounding Hannah’s death conceal. This show is very informational show because of the overall message of the show. Even though, it seems to some as if suicide is the answer it is not and shouldn’t be something to take lightly, the music and the cinematography.
- Suicide rates in America are at an all time high and according to a USA Today News article “ Teen Suicide rates has more than doubled: Here’s how you can help save your child”. This article states that there are many different reasons why a child may want to commit suicide such a school angst, sleep deprivation, a disconnect with other and much more. “The Vanderbilt study found suicide thoughts and attempts peak in the fall and spring when … teenager’s performance pressure, college-entrance exams, AP test ” are going on. “13 reasons why” is trying to show teens and young adult what could happen if they were to take their lives and hopefully help more teens/young adult with these thoughts.
- Most of the shows on Television, YouTube and etc. nowadays film shows and movies boringly with regular shots you see in most movies and shows such as aerial shots, shot reverse shot and many other techniques that many directors use. “13 reasons why “dose use regular techniques such as shot reverse shot and many more but they are creative with some of the camera work such as the court scene.
- The music in “13 reasons why” sound like the most generic free royalty music that a person could find for their YouTube videos. This music makes me feel like I am going to watch some silly YouTube videos not a series about a high school student that committed suicide. At the beginning of the episode the actor of the series were talking about how serious the topics that “13 reasons why” are discussing however the producers find it okay to put a dark and serious topic with light hearted music onto the scenes.
- The Netflix original “13 reasons why ” is okay series to watch. It is a show that is set around a serious topic, suicide, and how it affects more than just you and your family, but could have a greater effect on your whole town. The show also the show presents suicide as something that shouldn’t be taken lightly and that good because taking your own life is a serious thing. Another good thing about the show is the cinematography and how they compose the shots. A bad thing about this series is the music.
Nintendo Switch

The Nintendo Switch was released March 3rd,
2017 and is sold through many different vendors such as Best Buy, Walmart,
Target, Amazon, and more. The switch is Nintendo’s newest gaming console and
has the ability to “switch” from a handheld console, to a gaming screen with
two different types of remotes, to finally a console that can connect to a
television (TV). The
Switch is sold for give or take 279 dollars, plus about 50 dollars per game. The
product comes with a gaming screen, two remotes that clips into the sides of
the screen, an attachment to the remotes that allows them to be used independently,
an attachment that combines the two remotes into an Xbox style controller, a
box that allows the switch to be connected to the TV, and a charging port.
Today I will be sharing my opinion on the design, storage and battery life.
I think the design of this product
is great. It really combines the different types of popular gaming systems into
one. It is super easy to go from holding the main screen with the remotes
attached to having them separate. It even comes with a built in stand on the
back of the screen to allow for easy viewing while gaming. However I do believe
the stand could have been better designed. The screen is fairly heavy and since
the stand is off center to one side if the screen is not on a flat surface it
falls down easily. A review on the Switch from trustedreview.com agreed and
said, “The
kickstand feels surprisingly weak and flimsy, and allows for only one viewing
angle.” I think connecting
it to the TV is also fairly challenging at first, the written directions are
confusing and I thought it required further research to figure out how to
connect it. Another positive to the
design was that the console allows one to buy and download games on it. I
thought this feature was great since it eliminates the need to order and wait
for games to arrive. However the online shop is not very sturdy, it took more
than an hour to download each game, and it crashed multiple times while I tried
to download games. Other than that though I thought the rest of the design was
great, the fact that it allows for two player is awesome, and I think the
versatility of this product outweighs any flaws.
I think that the storage of this product was actually very
poor. One is able to download only a handful of games onto the console, and
after that an additional purchase of a SD card is required. With that for some
games, for instance 2K, one is unable to play it without a SD card. This I
think is kind of stupid considering how large the product is. The is 6.2 inches
long the design, while pretty, is kind of chunky. I would of expected better
storage with a device so large. Buying an SD card can cost anywhere from 20 to
50 dollars depending on storage. I thought the devise should be able to accommodate
more games, or Nintendo should of advertised the need for an SD cards more, and
maybe offer a discount for buying them together.
As for the battery, I feel like I also expected more considering
the size of the console. I found that the battery drained fairly rapidly when
being played on full brightness while connected to the internet. Trustedreview.com agreed and said that according to
their research 38 percent of the battery drains after an hour of use. For me personally
one of the main times I used this product was while traveling and it was kind
of disappointing that the battery drained completely after about three hours of
use. Trustedview.com recommends buying a portable charger for that reasons. The
downside to that is that portable charges are fairly expensive in general,
upward of 30 dollars and again that is an additional cost. I would of liked to
see Nintendo offer a deal with this too. The charging abilities of the product
are very good, I found that my device was more or less fully changed after two
hours of charging.
Overall I thought this product
was great despite the flaws in storage and battery life. I would recommend this
product, but advise that one fully considers the downsides before purchase.
